When did you first come across LushTums?

I was scrolling through Facebook and an advert for Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training came up.

Why did you decide to train with us?

I had already handed in my notice at the firm of Solicitors I worked at following the birth of my second baby.  I had worked in the Property department for 10 years and had qualified as a CILEX but I knew following the birth of both of my children that my passion lay around birth and motherhood.  Having had two different but very positive births myself I knew I wanted to help others to do the same.  I had been practicing Yoga for 12 years and loved it.  I always thought that teaching Yoga would be an ideal job but thought I wasn’t flexible enough or “good” enough to teach.  When the LushTums Teacher training advert popped up it was like “this is my dream job” .  It combined my passions, it sounded too good to be true so I immediately started looking for reasons as to why I couldn’t do it, but when I couldn’t see any other than my own resistance I had to go for it.  The thought that this could really be my career, that I could be my own boss and work close to home (no more hour long commutes to town and back!) and be there for my children- I had to try!  My husband was fully supportive and encouraged me to use our savings telling me to go for it.

What is your favourite part of being a LushTums Teacher?

That I come home from teaching a class feeling happier and more energised than when I left - the total opposite of most jobs!  When you understand how Yoga works it is no surprise but I still have to pinch myself.  I also really love that I am part of this amazing community of teachers who share a passion and a mission.  I love my tribe!

What do you enjoy doing when you are not teaching awesome classes?

I am a total book nerd and read constantly!  I also love travel, music, cooking, films, running and I am a member of Downend WI.  I volunteer as a breastfeeding peer supporter and for the Bristol Branch of National Autistic Society.  I am also a Mum of two incredible kids who I love to take on adventures with my husband of 10 years.

What piece of information would you most like to share with a new Mum or Mum-to-be?

Trust your gut, if something really doesn’t feel right to you, listen to it.  I also use the BRAIN acronym for pretty much all my decisions in life! (Benefits, Risks, Alternatives, Intuition, Nothing)

What would you say to someone thinking about training with us?

Be brave, just do it - it was the best thing I ever did, I’m so glad I didn’t listen to that doubtful voice.  Training was life changing in the best way, not only for a new career but for how I approached motherhood, relationships and life.  I had no idea when I started training how much I would learn and continue to learn now.

What do you love best about the area you teach in?

I’m sure everyone thinks that they live in the best place but actually unless they live in Bristol they are wrong! I love my city, I was born here and have moved to a few different areas, I love the diversity and how there are so many things to do.  Downend is a fantastic place as it feels like a village and yet we are close to the city centre and close to the countryside so you get the best of both.  I love that every time I’m on the High Street or in Co-Op I’m certain to bump into someone who came to my classes.
